Colorado Miniatures sells figure kits which require assembly and painting. Some of these kits can be used by AFV modellers to populate vignettes and dioramas, but most are intended for standalone display. When a figure kit is used in the latter manner, it is referred to as a Historical Miniature.

Historical Miniatures can be of any subject matter, including but not necessarily limited to Biblical, Cinematic, Literary, Mythological, and Military subjects. In practice, most subjects are drawn from Military History. This is not surprising, considering that the origin of the hobby can be traced to the invention and production of toy soldiers.

Unfortunately, like greater society as a whole, certain individuals in this hobby have sought to apply political correctness as a cudgel against any subject matter they deem offensive. We usually find these complaints to be without merit, but for those that insist on equating the actions of people in the past with the offering of certain miniature subjects in the present, we offer the following disclaimer:

We offer Historical Miniature figure kits based on subjects from many different historical periods. The offering of these kits for sale on this website shall not be construed as an endorsement by Colorado Miniatures of any political ideologies or historical actions associated with said subject matter.

On occasion, one of the manufacturers carried by Colorado Miniatures may release a figure kit that we decide not to feature in our online catalog. Such kits would either feature a subject matter that we believe would likely be offensive to a reasonable customer (e.g., figure kits of Stalin or Hitler) or which would be of limited interest to our customers (e.g., semi-nude, nude, or sci-fi kits). On a case by case basis, we may special order these kits on request.
